Summer is on the horizon, and from where we’re standing, it’s already starting to shine. This is the time of year when our city comes alive—with the return of the City's free music events, City Green Live and Concerts by the Springs, along with signature events like the Fourth of July coming into view.
Saturday mornings become a ritual, as the City's Farmers Market takes over the Green with a cast of 60+ vendors weekly. It’s become a favorite weekend stop for many in the community—and we love seeing it buzz with energy and connection.
Personally, I always look forward to this season. It’s when the work we’ve put in all year long starts to click, and we begin welcoming thousands of guests to the events that Sandy Springs PAC produces for the City. The recent City Green Live featuring Face2Face in tribute to Billy Joel and Elton John brought out a crowd of nearly 4,000—singing, dancing, and soaking in the summer air. Nights like that remind us why we do what we do.
But while the lights are up on stage, we’re also hard at work behind the scenes.
Summer means it’s fall and winter planning season. Even as we announce our first round of performances, we’re negotiating the next wave, dreaming up fresh concepts, and locking in new agreements for the future. Some ideas don’t make it past the brainstorming stage, but a few do, and we think you’ll love what’s in the works.
One exciting project that’s getting off the ground: Funny Fridays—our very own stand-up comedy series developed with Atlanta comedian Joel Byars that kicks off this month on June 20 in Studio Theatre. We’re also looking at launching a Sunday Jazz Brunch January through April, featuring local jazz favorite Joe Alterman. And yes, there’s even some buzz about a blues series…
