The music of John Williams: a tribute from the heart
by Bill Haggett, Executive Director
Music has a way of connecting us to memories, emotions, and the people we love. This season, we are honored to welcome the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra to our stage for a special performance of the legendary scores of John Williams. It will feature songs from Jurassic Park, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, E.T. and many more, including the unforgettable music of Star Wars.
For me, this concert holds a deeply personal significance. My son was a devoted Star Wars fan, a true warrior who faced leukemia twice, starting at the age of six. After years in remission, he was later diagnosed with a rare liver cancer, and last year, he left this world—but never my heart.
Bringing this music to our theatre feels like more than just a concert. It’s a tribute to his strength, his joy, and his enduring spirit. I know that when those first notes fill the hall, he will be listening, smiling, and feeling the same magic that once lit up his eyes. The evening will be a celebration—not just of cinematic brilliance, but of resilience, love, and the way music binds us to those we hold dear.
I invite you to experience this powerful performance with us. Whether you're a lifelong Star Wars fan or simply someone who understands the way music speaks to the soul, I hope you'll find something special in this night.
Join us on June 14 in Byers Theatre as we honor the legacy of John Williams, and in my heart, the legacy of a brave and beautiful soul who will always be with me.
